After post-doctoral stints at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and at Columbia University, he is now faculty at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in India. In 2004 he won the Gravity Research Foundation essay competition for a paper he wrote on black holes.
The Gravity Research Foundation was a quasi-scientific institute established in New Boston, New Hampshire in 1948 by the entrepreneur Roger Babson (1875-1967) with the purpose of pursuing anti-gravity research into gravity shielding and other pseudoscientific topics. It never had a large staff, but organized conferences and gave grants and large stone objects.
Gravity Research Foundation. In 2010 for our sixty-first competition, the trustees are offering five Awards for short Essays for the purpose of stimulating thought and encouraging work on Gravitation. We will make these Awards on May 15, 2010 for the best essays on the subject of Gravitation, its theory, applications, or effects.
